…end users upgrading from 4.6x to 6 :-)?
It’s it stated everywhere in the readme files, in the upgrade Redbook, even in the design of the R6 Domino Directory (prompt when you create a policy document) that in case of “temporary” coexistence all servers must be 4.6.7a or higher when upgrading to R6.
Well the fact is that it’s impossible to locate or download such version (Tried on partnerworld for Software, Passport website…google :-))
I have found traces of this very same problem in other threads in this forum. But no solution yet.
I know that the 4.6 code stream is not supported anymore, but when IBM/Lotus write such warnings, I expect to find a place where I can download the software to comply with the requirements.
I hope that there is merciful IBM/Lotus representative monitoring the Forum that will be so kind to point me to a download site.
Thanks
Subject: You only need 4.67a if you plan on partially migrating servers. i.e. migrate 1, then another next week etc.
The problem is the NAB which now has a Db property “Allow more fields in database” checked. Servers prior to 4.67a can not handle that large of a field table.

A partial migration is exaclty my scenario. I am 100% sure that for a while (how long I can’t tell now) R6 servers will replicate the NAB with R4.6x servers.
I am aware of the underlying reason of the need of 4.6.7a (Size of the UNK table). The last thing I want is the NAB stop replicating during the transition phase.
The risk is probably not 100% sure but given the environment (Banking :-)), taking chances is not an option.
That is why I would love to put my hands on this mythical 4.6.7a
Maybe not turning “Allow more fields” on is an alternative option. But then I might encounter problem on my R6 servers as well. (Turning it on is a must in the upgrade procedure)

Subject: Install the Japanese version? Bad Joke
Subject: You are probably right…
… there must be a special IBM upgrade Redbook that suggest the most efficient upgrade path on AIX is:
4.6.x US → 4.6.7a Japanese → 6.1 CF1 US
