Hi!
One mail account we made earlier went a little bit wrong. Instead of firstname.surname@domain.com we made it surname.firstname@domain.com (First name was on the surname position and surname on the first name position by mistake when making the ID-request.
Anyway, the user have used the mail a lot already therefore he want to keep the surname.firstname@domain.com -address , but is it possible to easily make another address (the right one, firstname.surname@domain.com) so that both addresses leads to his account that is already made?

The easy way to do this is to create a mail-in database entry. Forget mucking about with fields in the Person document.Just correct the email address in the original Person doc, and create a mail-in database entry with the ‘wrong’ email address. Direct the output of the mail-in database entry to your user’s mail file.

Sure
Either add the other email address to the full name field or just copy and paste the person / mail in db doc to name and address book and modify the internet address field.

Hi!
Thanks for your response! Where is the full name field? In domino administrator (6.5) there are only these fields available :
-First name
-Middle name
-Last name
-User name
-Alternate name
and the alternate name is not editable

Place the correct internet address into the internet address field, add the alias (in this case the incorrect address) to the shortname field.

Thanks for your reply!
That doesnt work, im getting some error when trying to send from gmail to my notes that it got rejected by the server. The funny thing is that it works from Notes to Notes but not from “outside” .
Isn’t there anyway to make it possible to choose two address formats to work from outside, firstname.surname@domain.com & surname.firstname@domain.com ?

Yes - place ‘firstname.surname@domain.com’ into the internet address field, and ‘surname.firstname@domain.com’ into the shortname (or username) field - either will work.
You state that you received an error, ‘rejected by the server’ - which address was rejected? Are both addresses listed on the person document?
You also state that it works internally, which makes me think that there may be more than one Domino servers involved - do you have multiple servers? Is it possible that the two servers hadn’t replicated all address book changes yet when the test was performed?

Hi!
Tried what you said with own account. I wrote the surname.firstname@domain.com in the short name/UserID -field and left the firstname.surname@domain.com in the internet address field.
That wont still work, the error Im receiving is "The error that the other server returned was:
550 5.1.1 User Unknown"
And this happens with the address im trying to add, in this case surname.firstname@domain.com. Could this be due to some kind of fullname only setting that is enabled?
Another way to get around this would probably be to just make a name change, and put the first name and surname on the right places, and change the internet address. But for how long will the old address then work if i just change it?

The address listed in the internet address field is the user’s Primary internet address - their ‘From’ address when they send mails.
Multiple alias addresses can be added to the shortname (or username) field - and this has worked for me here for the past 15 years - so I really cannot even imagine what must be happening.
Open the hidden view ‘$Users’ in your server’s names.nsf - is there one or two entries for ‘surname.firstname@domain.com’ ?
Check your configuration settings document - ‘Router/SMTP → Basic’ tab.
What is ‘Address Lookup’ set to?
Do you specify internet addresses in the internet address field for all your users?
