Please excuse the long explanation, we are not computer experts. We currently use Lotus notes mostly for personal use as we use eproductivity software for GTD.
We pop our yahoo/gmail, etc. to the local server.
Yesterday, we lost our internet connection. When Lotus restarted, the replication history for mail was not showing.
We replicated again and the mail kept on coming in every time. Replication history continued to not show, even in the logs, but the emails kept on coming!
We did a clean reinstall (according to IBM support notes searches). We checked the database, it is not encrypted.
We are curious to know why this happens so that we can resolve it next time.
Right now, we have used time capsule to pull another mail file from 3 days ago. That for some reason helped.
The last question is, where the mail file should be located on lotus notes. We had it under lotus notes data/mail/user.nsf.
We moved it out of mail to the main lotus notes data folder and it seems to be working. This is a mail file from 3 days ago.
So in order to get it working again, we moved the mail file out of mail folder in lotus notes data AND we had to go and retrieve an old mail file before the problem began.
I have searched the IBM forums and cannot find a thread related to replication history and pop emails.
Yes, if we do file - open, replication, history. It shows blank. It seems the history is not “sticking”. We tried looking at the log file and it is blank.
The funny thing is that it is now working and all we did was retrieve the mail file from 3 days ago and replace the current one. This means that there must have been something in the mail file . But we still have no idea what caused the duplication of emails. This happens about every couple of weeks.
Need more info to investigate, thanks very much for detail:
a>Thanks very much for provide your very detail steps on ‘pop our yahoo/gmail, etc. to the local server.’!
b>The way you install your notes client, all clients or notes client only? What setting has been set based on default settings?
c>What kind of net problem? net in a very busy status(Can we open a large server DB at this time)? Or only the disconnection to the net? What do you mean when the net get well again(just wait for a good net condition or go to another place where net is good by ‘wireless ethernet’)?
d>After start notes client? what other functions have been used?
