This just started happening today, but it’s happened for multiple Xpages. Ever since R8.5.1, the Xpage editor “flashes” periodically, repainting the screen and doing a number of very annoying, but equally harmless things, like completely repositioning the source window for no reason. Today that “flash” bollixes the editor, and it bollixed it so badly it won’t even let me copy and paste the garbled mess it created.
-
It did this when I was attempting to enter xp:scriptBlock … which the “flash” automagically converted to xp:eventHandler “for” me, as if that was what I really wanted. In the process it utterly hosed the editor, such that all changes had to be abandoned and start over. Thing is, starting over does exactly the same thing … flash, bollix, editor useless.

This is of course the Source editor. If I use the Design “editor” and drop in an output block, the cut and paste that block where I really wanted it to start with (because it’s nearly impossible to place otherwise), then everything is golden.
-
If I delete that cut and pasted scriptBlock, then attempt to manually enter it in exactly the same place, it hoses everything again.
-
If I completely exit all Notes everything (client, designer, whatever) and reload everything again (setting the freaking build version to 1.6 again), then attempt to enter xp:scriptBlock, it works.

Guess it was just wonkiness. Regardless, it’s untenable to have an IDE freak out and have to relaunch everything just to get back to work, wasting ever more time for no reason. It’s bad enough that Xpages is a hideous time sink without having the IDE rub salt in it.
Thanks for your time…
