Xpage does not like links without href attribute in richtext fields?

I have the following passthru text in a richtext fieldTest

which throws an ugly java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException

Test

works.

I am using the toString() method on a richtext item in an XPage.

Does anyone have a clue what I am doing wrong?

Subject: Opened a PMR

Well I opened a PMR and now IBM support is trying to reproduce the error. Unfortunately they don’t seem to be familiar with XPages yet so it takes a bit longer.
