In some circumstances, some users complain that: when they send a memo to one (or more) Internet recipients and one (or more) internal Notes recipients AND “return receipt” is enabled for the memo,
the sender receive a return receipt message from one Internal Notes user that WAS NOT a recipient of the original memo !!
Moreover Notes user did not received/read the original memo!
I don’t know if that weird behaviour depends on the fact that we setup “return receipt” feature on Domino server for all Internet recipients…

The only way that I know of that you are going to get a return receipt from someone is if they open the message. You say they “receive a return receipt message from one Internal Notes user that WAS NOT a recipient of the original memo …did not received/read the original memo…”
I’d be absolutely sure on that. If this other internal user has access to the mail.box or to the mailfile of a recipient, there is a chance they did open the message. This would trigger a return receipt from them. That’s the only thing I know of that would.

I just discovered a situation where return receipts go to someone other than the sender. In our case, the person opening the message was in the cc: field. The message was constructed so that the reply-to field was a Group in the Domino Directory. When the cc: recipient opened the message, the return receipt was sent to everyone in the reply-to group. When the To: recipient of the same message opened the message, the return receipt went to the sender only (and not the reply-to group name). We are running client and server 6.5.1.
