Some of my users have experienced an intermittent issue where they will select an email and attempt to delete that email, but it will actually delete the email below the selected message AND will not only drop it into the trash, but it will actually be removed completely from the mail file. Has anyone experienced this, and has a fix?
Subject: Yes, seen that too, solution

Subject: Same Here
Yes, I’ve seen that myself. I was pressing the delete button and the email below the selected email would delete.
It was a problem with 8.0.1 or 8.0.2 and supposedly fixed in 8.5 but I experienced the issue with 8.5. The problem was that my desktop OS is 64 bit and 64 bit isn’t supported. After I restarted my computer, the problem cleared up. It occurred a few weeks later and I restarted again.
Are you using a 64 bit OS?

all my workstations are using 32bit windows xp sp3
Subject: re. wrong email being deleted (and repair method)
I just experienced this problem as well. I’ve got 8.5 client with 8.0.2 mail template running on 8.5 server in Win XP 32-bit.
I also noticed at this time that the “Show check marks in margin for selected documents” wasn’t functioning. The margin was hidden even though this setting was enabled in the Preferences. Disabling and renabling the setting made no difference.
Given what seemed to be some screwy corruption with the mail file I decided to first try removing the mail icon from the workspace. After restarting the client and reopening the mail file, that fixed both issues. It’s less drastic than deleting everything in the “workspace” directory, which is another repair suggested here.
The bug with the wrong email being deleted is critical. Because I didn’t notice it at first and after doing some quick delete, delete, delete, action I had to go back later and carefully recover some important emails I noticed were missing.
Subject: checkmarks/deletions update
Some of my users have complained about the check-mark functionality disappearing from time to time and it requires that I shutdown the Notes client and any underlying processes and then restart it. Previous suggestion re: closing Notes and re-opening has also worked in my testing.
I would like to know if some response from IBM could be had here about these issues as they are persistent and could be potentially harmful, especially with improper deletions.
