Wrong Client License Type

We have 8 Notes clients/users that have somehow gotten the wrong type of client license type assigned to them (Admin/Designer instead of Lotus Notes Client).

We recently went through a conversion from v5 to 7, but I’m not sure if it happened during the conversion or not. I don’t see how it could have, really, as they were existing users with only Notes Client license.

Another distinguishing factor is that these user are all terminal server clients. Not all of the TS users have the wrong license type, though.

So, if anyone can shed light on how I can change their license type and how this might have happened, I would very much appreciate it. I have searched the forum and can’t find anything already posted.

Thanks!

Subject: Wrong Client License Type

Open the notes.ini on the clients’ systems and find the line that says:InstallType=2

Delete the 2 and leave that blank. That should fix the problem.

Thanks, Mike. I tried your suggestion…removed 2 from InstallType line, reopened notes, closed notes, checked person document and client license still says admin and designer.

What exactly is supposed to happen when I remove the 2? Perhaps some time needs to pass before I see the change??? I have other users, on TS, that have a 2 for the InstallType and their client license field in the person document says Lotus Notes, as it should. Is this field dynamic, according to how someone logs in?

Thanks!

Michelle,

Open the person doc for those users in the NAB and then change their type back to a notes client. As long as you haven’t recertified them. If you have recertified them then you will need to recertify them again as they were probably changed at that time.

Just a guess.

Thanks for the response, Shawn! I don’t have the ability to change anything on the Admin tab of the person document. I’m not sure yet if that is due to my permission level or if it’s just not possible. I’m leaning toward recertifying the users.

I’ll post whatever fix I find. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

If you can not edit make sure your ACL is Manager (If your a notes Admin, if not see your admin team) and make sure you have the NAB Roles applied to your user.

(Sorry for the delayed response. I was on vacation)
