I have a user who really wants to be able to write memos using the “Write Memo” button in the Personal Address Book. But clicking on the button simply gives us the error message, “Your mailfile could not be opened. Please verify that it appears correctly in your current location.”
I have verified that the location document is correct. The user can receive, send, forward and create just fine in the mailfile itself, but he cannot use the button in the PAB.
This user is a rabid Outlook devotee who seems to feel that if he yells loud enough and finds enough things he can’t do in Notes that he could do in Outlook – or enough things that “don’t work” – we’ll somehow manage to set up Outlook Just For Him. Not.
Any suggestions? Even a decent reason why it wouldn’t work?

Does mail open properly from the mail icon in the bookmark bar?Can you create a memo from the Create menu in other databases?
Try running the CreateMailMemo agent from the agent list; step through the agent in debugger and see where it breaks down.

Also make sure that the Mail file owner is correct.

Here’s something off the wall to check.I had a user get a similar error. Turns out she had MANY messages open (had not "ESC"ed or clicked the “X” to close the messages).
Notes tends to run out of resources when it reaches a certain number of opened messages.
Closing a number of messages seemed to have cleared the issue up in this case.
Subject: RESOLVED: “Write memo” in Personal Address Book doesn’t work
Well, I called the user back, armed with all the very good ideas you folks gave me, and when he tested it (before I did anything), it worked exactly as expected.
Alton, I think you had the answer in this case. I remember seeing that he had a lot of windows tabs open in my initial troubleshooting. Today he only had a few. I have warned him of the resource issue and he will remember in the future.
Thank you all for your suggestions and your assistance.
