- is there a way to display the workspace (without starting Notes 8 by running using nlnotes.exe)? My workspace icon only allows to “start applications” (!?)2) if the workspace has been disabled for good (a “feature”, not a bug), then how can one convert the workspace icons/links into bookmarks?!? I do have scores of them; a manual conversion would take hours… Keeping the workspace as it was is a much better solution, as it is easier to work with than bookmarks. Pulling the plug like this isn’t the nicest approach…
Subject: re: Workspace gone?
From your picture it looks as though you have customized your Open menu quite a bit. Possibly the proper Workspace option got deleted.
By default, it is in the Applications folder (formerly called “Databases” folder). You can try clicking on the Open menu, highlighting the Databases folder, and selecting “Restore Defaults”. Unfortunately this may lose your customizations, but you can re-add them afterwards if the Workspace very important to you.
Subject: no joy
I did restore defaults, and a few things changed - but no workspace in sight… Sigh…
Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.
Subject: Workspace
The workspace is still available. Click Open and then click the “Applications” folder. Workspace should be there. You can right-click on it and select “Set bookmark as home page”.
Subject: Workspace gone?
Thanks for your reply - but I don’t see the option you talk about. I don’t have an “applications” folder. I do have a “workspace” icon that, when clicked, shows the option of “open application”, which then opens an “open application” dialog.See composite image here: http://picasaweb.google.ca/carlossa52/Other#5250398670684348578
Once again, thanks for your reply.
Subject: look under “Databases”
Thanks for the picture. Check in the “Databases” folder. It should be there, at the top.
Subject: Workspace gone?
Debbie, thanks for the follow-up.The databases folder is empty.
None of my folders contains a link to workspace…
Subject: it comes from bookmark.nsf
You can try this, as a last resort:
Exit Notes
Rename bookmark.nsf to bookmark.bak
Launch Notes
A new bookmark.nsf will be created for you. It should have “Workspace” now, under the Applications folder.
Subject: Workspace - oh, joy!
that was the problem - along with the fact that the mail template hadn’t been upgraded during V8 install!
Thanks muchly, Debbie ! ! !
Subject: no workspace on Notes 8
I had this same problem at a much later date. The fix of renaming bookmark.nsf to bookmark.bak worked well for me.
Subject: Thanks!
I had the same problem and the above fix worked for me as well. Many thanks!
