Working sets are empty each time I start the Designer client

I love the concept of working sets, and I wish I could actually use them, but I can’t: I define working sets, add databases, and everything works fine. But as soon I close the Designer client and restart it, all working sets are still in the lits, but their entries are gone! This occurs every single time.

I usuall open the Designer client via a the bookmark in the Notes client. If I open it via Open in designer (on a db) in the client, the result is the same.

When I open the Designer client first (=without opening the client first), I get even worse problems: new Designer client windows keep opening very fast. In a couple of seconds, I have 25 windows with designer client open! It keeps going until I force the group of programs to close.

Subject: Seems to be related to perspectives

I managed to solve the problem and then recreate it:

To solve, I removed the “workspace” directory in the Notes data directory. When starting Notes, a new, clean workspace dir was created, and in the Designer I could define workings sets, and they were still populated after restarting the Designer.

Then I created a new perspective (which I had done before as well): I created a perspective called “Pascal” to use for classic Domino apps (=without outline, data and control views).

Then I set that perspective as default. After restarting, the old problems occurred, both in the Client and in the Designer:

  1. Client issue

When I start the Notes client, it opens 2 tabs (even though I set the preferences not to restore any tabs): One called “Workspace” (I have set the bookmark to the workspace as home page), and one called “Pascal” (which is actually the name of the default eclipse perspective in the designer client!).

Both tabs are empty: the contents is gray.

I’m not able to open anything: if for instance, i click on my mail file in the bookmark bar, an error occurs: “CWPCA8515E: Application failed to open: Notes 8.0 Mail Calendar Todo Applications”.

I then need to close the notes client and restart it, which then opens 3 tabs: “Home” (shows the workspace), “Workspace” and “Pascal”.

“Workspace” shows a white screen with the text “Opening workspace…” and “Pascal” doesn’t do anything. Resetting the default perspective in Designer to “Domino Designer” doesn’t help: then the tabs “Workspace” and “Domino Designer” open, with the same effect.

Every day I need to launch the Notes client, shutdown, relaunch, as described above, in order to start working…

  1. Designer client: issue witk working sets losing their contents, as described.
