Workaround - Calendar - Scheduling

I have been searching the Boards for a workaround for my issue and I can’t find one.

I would like to create a Travel Calendar for my company. Users would be able to put their trips on the Calendar. I have tried to implement this several different ways so that the User does NOT have to add a trip to BOTH the Travel Calendar and their Personal Calendar:

  1. I created a USER named “Travel Calendar”. When a User sets up a meeting on their personal calendar, they invite the Travel Calendar to their meeting. I have set-up the Travel Calendar to automatically accept all invitations. The problem with this implementation is that if a USER is going on a weeklong trip, they cannot set-up a meeting for longer than 24 hours. If they create an All Day Event, they cannot invite the Travel Calendar.

  2. I created a resource called “Travel Calendar”. There are several problems with this implementation. A.) You can’t double-book a resource. B.) You can’t add a resource to an All Day Event so you create a meeting, however the Meeting cannot be scheduled for longer than 24 Hrs.

Are there any settings that will allow me to schedule meetings for longer than 24 Hrs?

Is there a way to allow double-booking of a resource?

Is there a way to add a resource to an All Day Event?

Thanks.

We’ve done it in the “opposite” way from you because management needs to approve the vacation first.

They enter it into the travel approval system, then if the manager approves it the person gets link back to the database and then we create calendar entries in their calendar.

Probably not very helpful, but you might want to ask the question in the future, if the manager wants to approve the vacation first.
