Is there a way to have a view column (data, not header) word wrap?

Set the “lines to display option” in the view properties to 9… (and optionally, shrink to fit)

Pardon my newbieness again, but I see that the property is only available for web, is there a corollary for Notes client?

No, it works in the Client, for all views, no worries, it’s as simple as that.
