Is the specific directory within the Domino data directory on the server, and are you opening the file via the server? Or have you put it elsewehere on the network and are attempting to open it as a ‘local’ file ?
If it is within the Domino data directory, try using a Notes 6 Admin client or the browser based admin client to compact the file & see if that works.

You can’t open a Version 6 Database (ODS 43) with an R5 Client LOCALLY.
If you restore the Database to an R6 Server, and access the Database form your Client to the Server you will be fine.
Otherwise you will have to perform a compact -r to revert the Database to a previous ODS (41), if you want to keep it is this format you will need to rename the file extension to *.ns5

If I decided to copy the database with explorer, in other server , for example a server of archive , impossible to open the database … the message display … Version of NSF not Valid …
How can I do if I want to archive this database in another server , or restore the database in other server than Domino …
