Contacts Database: After dealing with numerous issues concerning Recent Contacts, I would like to make a few suggestions for the next version. Maybe these have already been implemented/suggested, however here goes.
While I understand the benefit of Recent Contacts, I don’t like the fact that we have no control over the process.
Here are a few suggestions I have:
-
It would be nice if we were able to control what entries are in the Recent Contacts view by:
- selecting the date to use as a starting point. Any emails after this beginning date should be added to the Recent Contacts view.
OR
- selecting a dynamic range to use as a starting point such as emails <= 1 year, emails <= 6 months, etc.
OR
- selecting a specific database to be used to build the Recent Contacts; i.e., mail, archived mail, chat, etc. In my tests, my Recent Contacts is pulling email addresses from my Archived Mail too. Another test pulled addresses from a separate spam email database that I had opened one time -- this is not even my mail database.
I understand there are preferences that can be set to not allow the Recent Contacts to be built, but this causes other problems with our Blackberry’s and syncing, so we can’t do that. And, asking all of our users to periodically go through their Recent Contacts view and clean up any incorrect emails will just not fly. Some have over 1000 entries.
As I said before, this is just my wish list. Maybe I missed something, somewhere and these are already possible.
Create Local Replicas: Another thought…what about being able to create local replicas from the File - Open - Lotus Notes Application dialog box. Instead of bookmarking the server database and then creating a local replica from there, why can’t we select the databases that we want and create local replicas from all those selected? This would make the process of setting up local users faster.
