For you Domino developers running a test Domino server on WinXP, what are you folks doing to keep the server up and running or, if you can’t, to somehow test web-enabled Domino apps?
My Domino server ran fine on WinXP for the last several months until Tuesday. I installed Mcafee VirusScan and then tried to run Domino and got what is apparently a very common problem on WinXP.
At first the server ran but I noticed the HTTP task wasn’t loaded. Loading it manually failed - the console said names.nsf was missing. I restarted the server and since then have not been able to start it again. It fails immediately with ‘Server exiting - could not open the ID file’ even though the data directory and all necessary files are still there.
At least they WERE there. The problem has now gotten worse - today I see that the entire data directory is gone from under the domino directory (fortunately my server.id and cert.if are backed up).
I’ve seen lots of posts here about deleting the pid.nbf file, copying the notes.ini file over, etc., but nothing works for me. I’ve disabled Mcafee (I haven’t yet uninstalled it) but it still won’t work. I’ll of course try reinstalling it to see if I can get it back but I’m not very optimistic.
