Hi,
We are preparing for to migrate to 6.5.3 Domino Server, and we need to know which Operating System (windows 2000 or Windows 2003) have the best performance.
Server Description:
Model IBM X346
Procesor Xeon 3GHZ
Memory: 2GB
Storage: 100GB (shared with Iseries I5-520)
Domino Users: 600 (All Notes Client)
The Domino Server is used for Mail and Domino Applications.
THanks
Juan
Subject: Windows 2000 or Windows 2003?
one thing to think about is also that as of June 30, 2005 Windows 2000 product family (including Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server, Datacenter Server, and Windows 2000 Professional) went from the Mainstream Support to Extended Support phase… what that means?
Microsoft is not ending support for Windows 2000. During the Extended Support phase, Microsoft continues to provide security hot fixes and paid support but no longer provides complimentary support options, design change requests, and non-security hotfixes.
save yourself time and get on 2003 now, otherwise you will be upgrading shortly anyways.
but it’s your choice.

Subject: Windows 2000 or Windows 2003?
We completely bypassed Win2000 and went straight from NT4 to 2003. It works like a charm.
Also - remember that the security defaults in Windows 2003 are set to protect the system, rather than expose it (as the defaults in Win2000 do).
Given that support for Win2000 is finishing, go to 2003.
