So, you want the link displayed by the view to open the document in a new window. I have been able to achieve this by making a custom text field in the view with the appropriate code to open said document and then disabling “show values in this column as links”.So, you can render passthrough html and set a column to contain code that might look like this:

“<a href=‘#’ onclick='http://” + @Name([CN];@ServerName) + “/” + @WebDbName + “/formname?openForm&docID=” + @Text(@DocumentUniqueID) + “,‘pagetitle’, ‘toolbar=no, menubar=no, scrollbars=yes, resizable=no, height=480, width=640’)”

this has the effect of rendering a javascript link to open the desired form in a new window.

Hope this helps.

There is no need to do this with javascript at all. If using html views, simply append &target=_new (or _blank or the name of a frame to open the documents in) to the end of the url that you generate from the view.

That would work also. I use javascript because it gives me more control over the appearance of the target window and “Target” is a depricated attribute in XHTML 1.0.

First, if at all possible, redesign not to use framesets at all. Bad design for the modern web and they cause more headaches than they are worth in most cases when it comes to building web navigation. However, to open a new window, set the target to either _new or _blank (google these topics to see the difference in how they work).
