Is there a Win2000 server equivalent of the Redbook “Lotus Domino 6 for Linux” or does anyone know where I can find a recommended Win2000 server configuration? Specifically the minimum services that should be run. I have read the Redbook “Tuning IBM @Server xSeries Servers for Performance” which has useful information but just explains how to disable unnecessary services but not what services are unnecessary.

This is like messing with the registry, you should try this out on a machine that you won’t get fired for when everybody is locked out!
Lotus Domino Server
Remote Procedure Call
Server
I’d say the above are the minimum. In production I’d add:
Event Log
Your Backup Service
Remote Access - Terminal Services/PCanywhere etc…
Be aware when shutting off services of that disabling them prevents them from ever running, setting them to manual prevents them from starting automatically but they can still be called from another service:-jmw

Wow, that is a lot less than I would of thought.
Thanks for the response.
