I’m planning to upgrade from 6.5 to 6.5.2. My server currently runs SuSE 8 (2.4 kernel), but I’m planning on upgrading to SuSE 9.1 (2.6 kernel). Will Domino 6.5.2 run well on this version? Has anybody tried this?

Just an update:
I’ve been running 6.5.2 on SuSE 9.1 with no major problems since Sunday…
The only inconvenience was that I was not able to do a local setup. It had to be remote.

What happens when you issue console command
show stat database.database.*
On Fedora Core 2 (kernel 2.6) I see only 1 MB maximum. I had to tweak it or the server would crash (see pasted address), but after a few hours I encounter performance problems when the buffer pool hits the max.

Thanks for your note. I know the contents of the Release Notes, and I know that SuSE 9.1 is not supported by IBM. However, in the past, and currently, Domino has run smoothly on unsupported versions of Linux. I just wanted to know whether somebody had Domino running on SuSE 9.1

I installed 6.5.2 on SuSE 9.1 and this are the results:
Kernel is the original kernel 2.6.4 which is shipped by the SuSE distribution. I didn’t (online-) updated the kernel. If I’d did it I would have kernel 2.6.5.
Installation of 6.5.2 runs as normal.
Installation of the german language pack fails with this results:

Starting the server with it´s basic (en-)installation works fine, too. But starting the http-task caused a server crash. Now the next day, where server runs without http-task, I restarted the server (for other reason) and now the http-task runs without any crash (don’t ask me why).

First machine was running SuSE since version 8.2 and was updated to 9.0 and now to 9.1.
Now I have installed Domino 6.5.2 on another completyly new installed machine with SuSE 9.1. Starting the server causes a message that “libstdc+±libc6.1-1.so.2” is missing and server aborts loading.
I found that this library is really missing and verified the first machine. There I found the library in “/usr/lib” and copied it to the same location on the new machine.
Now the server starts and is running well without any problem (except language pack installation described in the previous posting)until now.

Got the same problem here.
Allready searched the internet and fount a lot of related problems where people tried to install oracle software. But they only had solutiosn, where they change some scripts in the installer and none for the system.
I allready reinstalled the JDK and al glib-related libs, but nothing worked 
Anyone ideas how to fix it?

The only problem comes if you have a problem. I have a version of Domino running on an unsupported platform (R5.0.12 on Solaris 9). It does run, but since we have a little problem with it, Lotus won’t support us until either we upgrade to R6, or downgrade the OS to 8. We are going to do the former.
