Will client r7 work in domino r6?

Is there any compatability problem if client is in r7 and server is in r6????

But you’re talking about a different thing. Using an earlier version of a client with a later version of a server is OK, and supported I believe. Using a later client with an earlier server is not generally advised.

It will work, but I think if you come across any problems IBM certainly won’t be trying to fix those problems.

Also, if you’re doing any developing you need to be careful not to use any new design elements that aren’t available in r6.

The client will generally work fine, so long as you don’t upgrade your mail template.

I’m running 7.0.3 with a 6.5.x server (have to do this as 6.5.x clients aren’t supported on Vista) and have had no problems. As Dan mentions, if you are a developer you will need to be aware of which features will work on 6 - if you are unsure, check in the help as this always documents the versions that support the feature.
