Hi all,
I have searched the forum but seems no one had experienced that.
My application (no version control, no conflict or response doc) will validate if a document has been modified by someone else before saving changes. I do it by lookup the same backend doc (should be the same UNID) and compare their fields. I discovered that when editing on Notes client, if the document has been updated by others, it still possess the same unid (before save). But if I am editing on web, if the document has been updated by others, it will now possess a different unid (before save).
Actually it is the fact that I found by displaying their unid on debugging. Does anyone encounter this before?

Hi
You say ‘before save’.
How do you get the unid ?
Maybe could it be a temporary doc (before save, so)… ?

No, the document has been created already. I mean on opening it for editing from web, if updates are made to this doc by others, the uniersalid of this doc on web will change! I get the unique id by using: unid = doc.Universalid
I have a field “UniqID” showing the unid on the doc with formula @Text(@DocumentUniqueID), it is different with that on the doc!
The strange thing is if the doc is not edited by someone else, unid = doc.Universalid will be the same as the field on “UniqID”.
Strange? But it is on web only, Notes client got the same UNID!

Hi
Yous said : before save.
is it the same after saving ?

Well, actually if the doc has been updated by others, the web will save the doc as a conflict document with another unid, which is the unid that I get through debugging.
It seems that on editing a doc on web, it get the same unid (= @Text(@DocumentUniqueID)) on opening, but when the doc is at the same time updated by others, a different UNID will be assigned for the doc on web. But on Notes client, the doc remains the same UNID on editing and will be saved as a conflict doc with another UNID on the same scenario.
Have anyone experienced it before?

OK
“…but when the doc is at the same time updated by others, a different UNID will be assigned for the doc on web…”
this is normal behaviour.
Consider preventing editing at the same time, because it is no solution to no problem.
