Why not?

So, if my db is at ODS 51, why would I not want to enable design compression, data compression, LZ1 compression and DAOS?

Subject: Well…

Generally speaking, you would. But you should test first. DAOS is still relatively new, and the others have minor caveats that you may run into.

But overall, yes, they’re Good Things ™.

Subject: performance

You get (slight) performance hits with compression because the client has to decompress the data.

Not sure about performance hits with DAOS but you’ll get performance improvements of course if your dbs have large amounts of attachments.

We have compression on but not DAOS yet so I can’t give you any other reason why not
