Why I can't send email to others' internet mailbox? [Resolved]

The external smtp internet mail server require a login name and password. I just edit the smtp document in the Notes’ client side Name and Address book and it works now.

Thanks :}

I’m accessing a domino server from a Notes client. And my Notes’ mailbox is kept on the domino server. Also an internet mail account “my_name@domain_xyz.com” is set up ( pop and smtp ).

It is OKay for me to receive internet mail w/ POP3 protocal from the internet mail server and I can send a mail to another person under the same internet domain, i.e. “his_name@domain_xyz.com”.

But I can’t send internet mail to others ( i.e. john@mail.com ). When doing so, i get the message below:

“SMTP Protocal Returned a Permanent Error: 553 sorry, that domain isn’t in my list of allowed rcpthosts”

What should I do to adjust/config the domino and/or Notes client so that to make the internet mail works correctly?

Thanks!

looks like you’re using mail restrictions in the configuration document. Either you add the recipient host names to field “allow mail only from domains” in restrictions tab and to field “Allow messages to be sent only to the following external internet domains” under "Restrictions and Controls in the “Router/SMTP” settings or you empty this two fields to disable the restrictions.HTH
