Where is the DDE cache?

  • I have style sheet that I imported, then deleted from the database, then edited on the file system and re-imported. The changes never took effect … if I edit the style sheet “resource” in the CSS editor, it’s the old version, not the new one. DDE must know what I want better than I do. To bad it’s wrong.- Neither “DDE AND Cache” nor “Designer AND Cache” returned a single relevant hit other than questions about how to clear it.

  • Does it use Cache.NDK like days of yore? Seems unlikely, given the sweeping changes. Since it’s broken automagic is messing things up again I’d like to know for certain how to address it.

  • Thanks for your time…

Subject: will try to reproduce this case

we don’t use cache.ndk in Designer, and the steps you describe should be working fine, though there may have been a relevant bug fix very early in the 8.5.1 cycle in this area, but I need to research it. Is the stylesheet marked as “needing refresh” in the design list?

The stylesheet in the database is what you will see when using the onboard CSS editor. To at least get past this in this instance, open the stylesheet in the designer css editor, and paste the contents you want from the external copy directly in to the source and save.

Subject: Thanks Maureen…

  • I don’t think it was … today it’s gone. I completely deleted it several times and imported it again; likely I gave up after deletion instead of import. If I import it again just now, it does not have “no refresh” checked.- I don’t see a “needing refresh” anywhere on any property sheet for any Style Resource. If there’s somewhere else I should look I’ll be happy to do so.

  • Today when I open the very same style sheet (that I just imported moments ago) that caused all the problems (last week), it works fine as frog hair. Read and edit mode show the correct content. So it’s an intermittent problem.

  • I’d still like to know where DDE’s cache is. Next time this happens I’d like to delete the DDE cache and see if that fixes it. It’s a tried and true LotusScript kludge that I’ve used for years … there’s no reason to expect it won’t work here as well.

  • Can you tell me where the DDE cache is?..
