Where is the Administraion client?

I did a complete install of Domino on Windows 2003 Server, and a complete install of Lotus Notes client on a Vista machne, and neither of these packages appears to have included the Administration client (so that I can setup SNMP events).

Where do I get the Administration client, so that I can setup Domino/Notes for SNMP?

Thanks.

Subject: Full client installed?

The Admin client is part of the notes client. Did you install the full client? If so it should be on your start bar.

Subject: full client

I definitely installed every option with it, but all I have from the Start menu is:

(under “Applications”):

Lotus Notes 8.5

Lotus Symphony Documenuts

Lotus Symphony Presentations

Lotus Symphony Spreadsheets

Notes Minder

?? This is in Windows Vista (32-bt). Is there another package that includes this?

Thanks for any help you can give me on this…

Subject: That isn’t the full client.

Full client would have Domino Designer and Domino Administrator.

Subject: can’t install Designer

I downloaded Designer from the same page as Lotus Notes…but when trying to install it, it tells me that I am trying to upgrade a multi-user install and to get the appropriate package.

?

I downloaded it from the same spot. Why would one be multi-user and one not? Shouldn’t they be compatible with each other?

There’s no way to get the adminitrator client without having to install Designer? I really need the ability to get SNMP events, and it seems odd to have to install a product that I wouldn’t us just to get events out of Notes/Domino.

Subject: Clarification…

There are two client install kits. Notes client and Designer client. They can be thought of as different but related products. You can only have on of them installed on machine at a time.

The Notes client install kit is just the Notes client, nothing else. It installs in multiuser mode by default on Vista.

The Designer client install kit installs the Notes client, the Designer client and the Admin client all at the same time. It does not install in multiuser mode.

If you install using the Designer client kit, you do not need to install anything else. You can not first install using the Notes client install kit in multiuser mode and then install using the Designer client install kit because the Designer client does not support multiuser mode.

You will need to uninstall the Notes client and then install the Designer client (which will install the Admin client).

Subject: full client?

Domino Designer is a separate download. The ones I listed are EVERYTHING that comes with the Lotus Notes binary package.

I’ll download Designer and install that, as well, and see if that gives the Administrator option in it.

Subject: Can you send me a link?

I get my builds via another process. Can you send/post me the link you are using?

btw. If it is just SNMP you want to set up then you can do this with a normal client. You connect to the Names.nsf on the server to get access to the server/configuration documents. Then use the domino console if you need to issue commands.

Admin help for SNMP is here.

Subject: Admin client

Thanks for that link.

It looks like this product is VERY picky about order of installtion. The “Notes Client” download package is a single-user setup. The “Desgner” download package includes both the client and admin console…that didn’t seem clear from the download screen.

So I uninstalled everything and started from scratch, and I got Domino running on the server, Notes client operational, and can connect to the Admin consle.

So after I enabled ALL events, I get an error saying that “You must select at least one criteria before you can continue” even though all events are selected.

I seem to recall seeing something about this in another thread that it was a bug in 8.5 to try to select All. Is there a solution available for this yet, or will I need to just get around it by making multiple event triggers?

Thanks for all the help on this so far. This forum is very helpful.
