Where does notes get replication settings on setup? (FIXED)

When building a laptop we have a customised Bookmark file, and various default databases which are loaded locally.

When the notes client is started on the laptop for the first time it starts to replicate some of these databases to a server a in a distant site - and not the one specified in the location document.

All pre-loaded databases have the “last successful server” set for their scope on their replication settings.

Once you leave the laptop alone and scheduled replication starts the replication then updates itself and starts to replicate with the local server - I assume as it’s now making use of the location document and/or Server location/network values

Can anyone explain where & how notes initially decides what servers to replicate local databases with on that first start up? (I had always assumed it would use the location document but now I’m not so sure!)

It’s not a massive issue but I’m not sure how it works this out!

Any suggestions welcome

Thanks

Alan

did you check the Admin HELP, there is some infor there

Yes I’ve had a look in the admin help, notes.net, Redbooks and a general search on google!

I’ve been in admin for 9 years and know how it works once a machine is setup - but it’s that first time you start the client and it kicks of a scheduled replication how it works out where to connect to

It’s not the end of the world but it’s nagging at me to find out!

Subject: Solution - Policy Document link

Tracked it down to an incorrect link in one of the laptop policy documents which had been pasted from the distant server.Replaced that with a local link and it all worked

Chalk that one down to experience!
