When creating users: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password

I have an Admin in one of our subsidiaries who can’t create new users, but who can do everything else an Admin can do.

When he attempts, he gets this error: “Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password” on the Register Person window. He and I have the same privileges (with the exception of that I’m member of a ACL group to a database that he doesn’t need to access because the db is only available to us on the headquarters). I asked him to e-mail me the admin ID and password and I can create users with his account.

The differences between his environment and mine:

  • He runs Vista and release 8.0.1

  • I run XP Pro SP2 and release 8.0.1

I have googled but not found any answers about this particular problem. Any ideas?

I have the same problem: R8.0.1 Domino Administrator can not register user on R8.0.1 server and provides the same error.

Did you manage to solve this?

Subject: solution

Reboot windows, reconnect windows network drives.

ID file had to be stored on the network disk and username and password did not fit.

Remapping solved.
