just wanted to find out the maximum nnumber of folders that can be created on Notes 6.01CF1 before it crashes.

We have a user with 434 total folders. Are you talking about more than that? Remember a folder is pretty much just a view and you would have to account for the number of views also.

There is not a limit on the number of nested levels, but there is a limit on the total length of characters to a View’s farthest descendent. The total number of characters from a parent View or Folder to its farthest descendent child cannot be greater than 130 characters. This number includes a backslash character for each parent child level. In the example below the View, Parent, with it’s descendants would have a length of 27:

The total number of Views and Folders is limited to 200 rows of display in the navigation pane on the left hand side when you open a database."

Yes I meant the number of folders, user has 600 folders on inbox and seems to be having some issues.

Other than telling the user that there’s no way to sanely manage that many folders and emails, I’m not sure where to go. According to those technotes there could be some issues with the lengths of the text in the folder hierarchy.
If you go to the Domino Administrator client, you can go to the Server tab, then the Analysis tab, then expand the server log and expand Databases. In there, click Database Sizes and then when that comes up double-click that user’s Db and you can see all the folders.
Find the longest folder name including the hierarchy, copy it and paste it at this site:

You can see how many characters it is. According to technote 1099040

I’m not too sure about that, but my problem user has the following:
DCS\Plans\Military Deployment\International plan\2-14-2003 $1.29 charges
That’s 72 characters.
