What version of Windows Installer does the Notes Client installer use/install?
I have a scenario where I am installing our own Notes based applications and if needed installing/upgrading the Notes Client via CD-ROM. I am shelling out to the Notes Client installer from our own installation routine.
I would like to check for the proper version of the Windows Installer service from my installer to better a handle a restart if it is required.
Can anyone tell me what version of the Windows Installer service I should be looking for?
Any help or input is appreciated.

I believe the setup.exe installs Windows Installer v2.0 if it isn’t already installed on the machine. It then reboots and continues with the Notes install.
We have noticed however, if we run the .msi package with an installer that is older (say 1.0) it will still install. We did this when we pushed out the upgrade using group policies from our Win2K servers and didn’t have any problems. We upgrade about 375 clients this way.

Check the version inside the “instmsiw.exe” file which gets distributed with the actual .msi file.
