I’ve to install a brand new Domino8 server but i hesitate between 2 OSes …On the same hardware, what would you choose between Linux (Redhat) and Windows 2003 and why ?
Licensing price doesn’t matter here !
What about performances ? Which is the best ? Is Ext3 better than NTFS on large file ? or the contrary ?
The same server should host the limited version of sametime.

Subject: Most folks would stick to the one they had
Especially going Windows to Linux you might run into application issues (capitalization of database names makes a difference here, and even the most tiniest of 3rd party app might run into this).
Such stuff is fixable, but if you go first time Windows to Linux make sure this is backed by your boss, first.
I am not sure if Sametime is available on Linux, and would check first
Subject: Go with your comfort level
While I think you can wring more performance out of the Linux machine, at the end of the day you’ll be happier if you choose the operating system you are most comfortable with. If you are Windows savvy and a Linux novice, you’re going to be be better off with Windows.
