What is the ODS Version of R8

Hi Everybody, Can anyone tell me exactly what ODS does?Whats the purpose of ODS?I know the ODS for R6,7—43 and for R8 its 48.I have seen some people saying for R8.0.x it is 51.Exactly anyone can tell me the ODS versions for R8 and R8.0.x .Can any one tell me
