I have to develop a notes application that sends and reads information from the LDAP directory using the notes interface??

It stands for Light-weight Directory Access Protocol. Probably you want to go to a book store and get one that describes everything about LDAP. B&N or Borders should have them. It’s hard to do any programming without understanding the concept first.
