What is embedding.nsf?

I have an external application that opens a new Calendar event. It works fine with all prior versions of Notes, but in 8.5 it pops-up a message “File \Automation -embedding.nsf does not exist”. Can anyone tell me what this database is supposed to be doing - it’s not something we are trying to access in our code.

Subject: more information

I created an empty folder called Automation, and a new blank database called embedding.nsf, and now my application works !!!

So my original question remains - what is embedding.nsf supposed to do? Why didn’t Notes create it on installation if it needed it?

Subject: Googlewack

I put “File ‘\Automation -Embedding.nsf’ does not exist” into Google, and I got a Googlewack - when a single entry is returned - haven’t had one of those for many years. Thanks for that!

I get “File ‘\Automation -Embedding.nsf’ does not exist” when I start up notes. If I’m away from my desk for a period, then I get repeated messages. I have to sit there continually closing the error windows, the longer I have taken to close them, the more there are to close. I think it comes from upgrading an older version of notes, and the error comes from the location document.

I’ve tried your fix and I hope it works. If I don’t post again then it has worked. Fingers crossed.

Subject: Fix didn’t work

The message re-appeared - I’ll be doing a clean install and manual recreation of my locations after 8.5.1 is released. I know that will stop the ‘File Automation’ message from appearing when I startup Notes.
