One of the most annoying things Domino does that it insists on adding a Submit button to a form. I will add my own buttons, thank you.
I have one database that has a form (Search Form). I added my own search button. No submit button shows on this form when displayed in the browser, only the HTML search button that I added.
I copied this form to a second database. made no changes to the form, but a Submit button is being displayed along with my HTML search button. I Why? Is there a database property that I am missing somewhere?
Subject: What causes the Submit button to be added to a form?
I suspect this is related to the ‘Use Javascript when generating pages’ option on the first tab of the database properties.
See the Domino Designer 7 Help topic titled ‘Creating formulas and buttons for the Web’ for a table listing the behavior changes for when this option is selected and not selected.

Domino adds the submit button b/c you can’t have a form without a way to submit. (it has been there for a long time, maybe 4.7) - I don’t care for it either.
On your Database Properties box click “Use JavaScript when generating pages”. This will remove that button on all of your forms for that db.

Thanks to the both of you for your responses. I actually thought of the “Use Javascript” option after having a chance to sleep on it.
The automatic addition of the button without the option set is an annoying feature. People have been designing web pages for a long time and they have done just fine by adding their own buttons.

I just thought I would throw my $0.02 (USD) in here:
I am designing a form for Blackberry browser. If I don’t enable javascript, I get that damn annoying “Submit” button. My problem is that if I enable javascript to get rid of the button, the blackberry browser then complains about not supporting javascript.
Now I have to spend more time coming up with a work-around because some dolt thought it was a good idea to assume I wanted a submit button on every web form I design.
