Welcome page - Hoping this makes it to Debbie Branco

In R5 there was a undocumented way to set a custom db as Welcome page in the bookmark.ntf (shift click click in the BookmarkOrderTemplate to set a frameset of another database as the Welcome page).

How can this be done in ND6?

I need to do the same thing, although I was hoping to be able to roll out a button that would automate this for users rather than have to replace the design of their Bookmark Database. Luckily for me I implememented Roaming User Profiles from day one, so I can do it all at the server.

Sorry, I’m not familiar with the undocumented feature you mention.

However, if I understand your question correctly, you can select any database to display in a welcome page frame.

For example, select the welcome page wizard and choose only 1 frame. The contents of the frame should be “Notes Database”. Then you can select any “custom” database to display in the frame.

Does this help?

Hallo Debbie,

I think Christoph means the description in Technote 173912 (“Setting the Workspace To Launch as the Home Page in the Notes R5 Client”). It is still needed in Notes R6.

To set the workspace to launch as the home page, right click on the “Workspace” bookmark (found in the Databases folder on the bookmark bar) and click “Set bookmark as home page”.

But Christof mentioned setting a “custom database”, not the workspace, right?

Sorry, I should read more carefully. To your reponse: The user must do this. What I want and is documented in the related technote for R5 is, if Notes 6 is installed and configured the (real) workspace should be opened not the welcome page of the bookmark.nsf (no action of a user should be necessary).

Wolfgang

Thank you Debby, but I did not help. This option allows only to open a view of a custom database. What I need is to open a frameset of a that database.

Is there another way to do it?

The good thing about the undocumented feature in R5 was that you did actually manipulate the bookmark.ntf and set the custom database as homepage by using shift click on the hide when tab in the UserBookmarkOderTemplate.

As a result the custom database was set as homepage for every user (no user interaction needed).

I really need this feature or something similar in Version 6 as well.

Thanks in advance,

Christoph
