If I am using multi-server Session based authentication, how can I setup internet password checking, so an error message is thrown up if a web browser user tries 3 attempts at the password and fails? Thanks for any assistance.

To do that, I think you need to write a custom server plugin using the Domino Server API (DSAPI). It’s a C/C++ job. There’s an example of exactly what you’re looking for in the developer docs for it.
The only docs I’ve ever been able to find are the ones in the R5 release notes:
