hi…
need help on this…
we have an embedded view that’s being opened in web, the problem is everytime a category is expanded, the whole page is refreshed/reloaded, so when i scroll down to open a category, the page goes back to the top
any idea on this?
thanks so much!
Subject: Web Page Refresh problem
If it is possible, embedd the view on a form (or page) and make it a viewtemplate for the view (“$$ViewTemplate for myview” as the title or alias). When the categorized view is displayed through a template, Domino puts anchors on the categories which tells the browser to keep scrolling at the correct line.

Have a look at your view’s advanced properties tab (the one with the propeller hat)/“Web Access” section . . . Is the setting for “Use applet in browser” enabled?

hi!
no it wasn’t enabled on purpose, enabling it makes the loading of page so slow, so we decided to just use view’s display property for faster response…
does this mean it’s one of the limitations when applet is not enabled? any suggestion on how i can make it work even without eanbling it?
thanks!

Strange behaviour. Normally, a “display using HTML” view has twistie links that look like this:
http://server/path/dn.nsf/view?OpenView&Expand=x.y.z#x.y.z
where x.y.z is the docnumber of the entry you want to expand. Note the “#x.y.z” at the end – the page SHOULD scroll to that entry when the view is expanded, since there is an anchor link with that name in the view entry. (You should be able to confirm this behaviour by looking at the status bar of your browser when you mouse over the twistie.) This was something we had to code ourselves in R5; in Domino 6 the server supplies the anchors automatically.

ok, i tried using that, manually typing the document number and it worked! my problem now is how do i make it work automatically? i’ve tried display using HTML, but unless i manually type the document number, the page would go back to top…i noticed that this is the URL being opened when twistie is clicked (or moused over)
http://server/path/dn.nsf/view?OpenView&Expand=x.y.z&BaseTarget=RightFrame2
where RightFrame2 is the default i set in Frame properties (default target for links in frame)
i tried removing this and just leaving it blank, but the basetarget was just removed from the URL… what should be the value of this property?
thanks!!

Oh, crap. You’re doing this with framesets? Now, I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings here, but framesets were a cute workaround we needed in generation 3 browsers (and still need in Notes). There hasn’t been a compelling reason (read “good excuse”) for using them on the web for at least five years. Go here:
and start learning CSS. You can achieve the same kind of UI experience without relying on framesets, which introduce a lot more problems than they solve – even in handcoded HTML.
