Web mail not working for mail files in folder link

We have transferred some mail files on our mail server to a folder link pointing to another server in order to free up disk space. This works perfectly except when they try to use webmail. We use the web redirect database which directs users to their mail file after entering their username.

The web log shows the following:

Request: GET /user/soapCaller.bs HTTP/1.1

Status: 500 INTERNAL ERROR (The server could not fulfill the request because of an unexpected condition)

Any ideas what could be causing this problem and although it may not be supported can this be made to work?

What do you see in the web page after you login a user that has its mail database in another directory?

Do you use Domino HTTP Server or have a IHS or something as the front end?
