Web Login Problem

Hi,

Strange problem when trying to login to a database on the web.

If I am correct, the domsfg.nsf database provides the login screen, but it switches to names.nsf for the user authentication…yes?

The problem is very minor, but has been bugging me for a good while, when the user is going to login, the page is displayed perfectly, with our corporate banner at the top and logo etc, HOWEVER, if the user’s username and/or password is incorrect, I dont get the images at the top, instead, I get the red crosses, as the images cannot be found…but its the same login form!!!

Does anyone know where we are going wrong and how to fix?

Thanks!

Hi,

Is there is access for Anonymous in the server document → Ports → internet ports

Subject: RE: Web Login Problem

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies,

  • Anonymous Access is allowed in the server document

  • Default access on the domcfg database is READER

  • I have tried the full image paths, - to no avail!!

Thanks for the suggestions, if anyone has any other possible solutions, please let me know.

Thanks

Jamie

What is Anonymous access on Domcfg.nsf database set to? Default is not the same as Anonymous. Anonymous should be set to Reader.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, sorry ours is so late - we have two domcfg.nsf databases, one has anonymous set to Reader and the other does not.

Should we set both to have anonymous access to Reader?

Thanks

Yeah probably set both to ‘Reader’ for Anonymous. I’m assuming your customized login forms are in the domcfg.nsf database?

Make sure any images, forms, etc which non-authenticated users need to see (ie. Anonymous) have the ‘Available to Public Access Users’ flag enabled.

I had a similar problem. Custom login form had the top and bottom of the page that was the same as the rest of the web site. The web page top/bottom was coming from a subform. When initially loaded, all would display as required, but when an invalid user name/password was tried, you’d only get the user name/password fields as they were a part of the actual form. I basically copied the content of the web page top/bottom onto the actual login form and it would work regardless. Not sure why, but it worked. I don’t know if that can be applied in your scenario.

Thanks for your quick reply,

Unfortunately, it wouldn’t apply in my case as the login form contains my header information (i.e. image paths etc) - so they are all already on the same form.

Thanks for your suggestion anyway,

Anyone got any other ideas?

Thanks

Jamie

Have you tried fully pathing the image urls?

Do you have Anonymous access set in Domcfg.nsf to ‘Reader’? We found we needed to do this to get customized logins to work correctly.
