Question: If I have a rich text field on a form that is edited in both Notes and on the Web, why are any new lines added programmatically with JavaScript on the web not picked up later on when the document is opened back in Notes?
Example:
A document is opened on the web. Text is added to a rich text field (which is now just a textarea tag, of course) via JavaScript that includes the “\n” character.
Later on, when the document is opened in notes, the text in the rich text field appears to be formatted with newlines, but if any other text is added programmatically (I’m using client-side JavaScript), all of the newlines are stripped!
That’s what I don’t understand – if I try and grab the text in the client from the rich text field via JavaScript, there are no newlines contained with it, even though it appears to be formatted that way in the workspace…
