Web authentication not working after ACLchange

I recently changed the ACL of a database to make the entries for -default- and Anonymous “No access” instead of “Reader”. My expectation was that this would force logon. However, since then, users are opening the database from the browser and seeing two very old documents, and nothing else. They are not prompted for logon.

Can anyone please advise me what’s wrong?

Sounds a lot like Readers and Authors fields problem, also check in the ACL for Max Web Access. So if you change the ACL back does it work?

Thanks Bill, but no Readers or Authors fields. If I change the access for Anonymous to reader, all is fine.

Take a look at the “Read public documents” setting. I suspect that the view(s) and documents that the user can see are all marked as “public access”.

Thanks - I now understand the “Read public documents” really means “Read ONLY public documents” - nice of Lotus not to say it that way!
