I have just installed a Domino 8.0.1 server, enabled the HTTP on setup and can browse to the Domino server, but I only see a black screen with some help links on it. I am unable to login or even get to web access. This is an out of the box install, so I am sure I am mmissing something simple to turn Web Access on. Anyone out there have a beginners guide to enabling and login into web access?
Subject: Web Access
If you go to http://yourserver/webadmin.nsf it will provide you access to web admin.
Subject: Web Access Configuration
Dear Anthony,
There are ways to configure Domino Web Access, you can have any db as the home page of your server, for example if you need webadmin.nsf as homepage(ie when you type your server address {http://yourserver), then it will open webadmin.nsf) you need to put the webadmin.nsf db name in the Server Document–> Internet Protocol–> Homepage field, also put the server’s FQDN in the HOST NAME field. This is the first way to do it, there is another way of doing this.
→ Server Document—Basic Tab–Load configuration from Internet sites/View(Enable).
→ Go to Domino Directory(Server’s names.nsf), then expand Web view and click on Internet Sites view and in the view click on Add Web Site.
→ In the Website document enter the host name and the server hosting the website, and then Configuration Tab–> Homepage field–enter the db that you want to open when you tpye the server address in the Internet Explorer. In the same tab enter the host name of the server.
Now if you need to have your mail or someelse mail file to be opened when you type the server address in IE you need ot follow the following steps.
Domino Web Access redirect
→ Create a new db on the server using the Domino Web Redirect template( For Domino 8 it is IBM Web access redirect I guess). Remember the file name you give to this new db.
→ Now that you have created the Domino redirect db, open the redirect db and go to setup tab and in the file option select DYNAMIC( you will find FIXED /DYNAMIC/MAIL…i guess), and then save and close.
→ Put the db file name( ex: redirect.nsf) in the homepage field of the Server Document under Internet Protocol tab and Homepage field.
→ Now you need password to login to your web mail, you need to open the person document and edit the doc and enter the Internet Password, the username would be your Lotus Name or short id.
→ When u enter the server name in the Internet Explorer it will ask for user name and password, once u enter then it will redirect directly to your mail file, the same applies if you enter someone else
s username and password.
Subject: redirect
Thanks for the help, the redirect seems to be the best path. I only have 2 issues with this now:
1- The login screen is just a yellow box on the upper left hand corner that says Server Login. How do you enable a friendly web interface, one that users can choose lite or not?
2- All the users do not have an Internet password and if I set it, it works, but how does it remain in sync with their notes ID password? That one works with Windows password and syncs up.
Thanks!
