Way to generate new local names.nsf for a notes client?

I have a user that the search functionality is not working correctly on their contacts. (He searches for a name that is in there and it returns zero documents) I exported his contacts and imported them into my empty contacts and the search functionality works as expected.

Is there a way for me to create a new empty names.nsf for his client and then import his contacts? If I remember correctly, if I delete the names.nsf, Notes will not create a new one and not be able to open.

Subject: type-ahead

Is this really the fact that they don’t appear at all, or that the type-ahead is just not working properly?

There is a problem with 8.5.1 where if you have lookup to be on each character it doesn’t work consistently (I change everyone to lookup on delimiter)

Subject: Possible BUG in version 8.5.1 and searching contacts!

OK, I’m not sure if this is a bug in the program itself or what but I’ve now tried this on 4 different computers and they are all behaving the same. If the contacts database is Full Text Indexed, then you will get no results searching for someone’s last name in the contacts. I.E. when you are in the user’s contacts and type a last name in the search bar, it will return zero results. If you delete the full text index, it will return the proper results when you search. If you then create a full text index the search function will again return zero results.

Is this a BUG or am I missing something?

Subject: Not repro in 851FP1

I can’t reproduce in an 8.5.1FP1 standard client

Subject: A couple ways to get there…

You could shut down the client. Rename the existing names.nsf. Delete all but the first 3 lines of notes.ini and restart the client. This will kick off client configuration when you relaunch.

Alternatively, you could just move a new address book into the notes data directory and edit the notes.ini parameter NAMES=names.nsf to NAMES=yournewnames.nsf
