Warning: FixPack problem on 6.5.2 and 6.5.3

If, like me, you installed a FixPack for Domino 6.5.2 or 6.5.3 on Windows which you downloaded from IBM before February 18th 2005 you should know that it causes serious problems. Our 6.5.2FP1 server stopped receiving incoming client connections and the router appeared to try to continually reinitialise.

By chance I came across a technote about the incorrect FixPacks which can be found here:

I re-downloaded the “revised” FixPack and applied it to the server. So far it appears to be stable again.

Subject: Networker problems instead…

It turned out that the problem we had was not caused by the FixPack but by Legato Networker backup which apparently locks NOTES.INI and causes the server to stop responding on port 1352.
