Hi,
We have upgraded our Domino server to 7.0.2 and are now looking to use smart upgrade to deploy Lotus Notes 7.0.2 to our clients.
We have 5 geographic sites, each with their own file server which will host a share containing the smart upgrade package. I’m after some advice on the best/most efficient way to design smart upgrade policy for our company.
For example, User Joe Bloggs is a laptop user registered in OU London to company XYZ = Joe Bloggs/London/XYZ
The London site has a local Windows file server called LONDONSERVER. The decompressed smart upgrade package is held on a share on LONDONSERVER:
\LONDONSERVER\NOTES702\SETUP.EXE
Then we have another site in Scotland, user Fred Bloggs is registered in OU Scotland for the same company, i.e. Fred Bloggs/Scotland/XYZ.
Scotland have their own file server called SCOTLANDSERVER and the package again is decompressed and hosted on a share.
I want to ensure users only pull the download across the LAN and not the WAN.
So if London user Joe Bloggs was connected to our Scotland network, I would want the package to be downloaded from the Scotland file server and not the London server.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Claire.
