Waiting for dns availability

Hi all

I know this issue has been posted before, but I have tried all of the solutions listed with no luck.

When my users are sending external emails, most are sent immediately, however every now and again an email will just wait in the mail.box with no error status.

When I do a “tell router show queues” its says that it is # waiting for dns availability. The number waiting on dns seems to grow steadily over the day. The only way I can get rid of these emails is to a “tell router update config”. This pushes the emails out straight away and seems to sort the problem for a while.

Problem is I can sit and monitor the mail.box for stuck emails all day.

So far I have tried

  1. Deleting and letting the system auto create the mail.box

  2. removing any old or empty nic entries from the system registry

  3. Checked the dns connection and enetered the dns severs into the notes.ini

I’m really stuck and any help/suggestions would be appreciated

Subject: waiting for dns availability

Yes becasuse when you send the tell router update config, it reloads the routing tables for the Domino router, Maybe the same thing happens of you stop ans start the router task)

This seems to be a network problem or DNS problem. HAve you tried to use the DNSLOOKUP command to find out if you can resolve the domain MX records from your Domino server when the dns availablity message appears?
