VmWare and Domino 8.5 and perfomance - Any concerns?

Hi

A client of mine is having major performance issues with Vmware 3.5 and Domino 8.5. The CPU is almost always at 100%. Nserver is consuming the major part and NRouter too.

Is there any known concerns related to VmWare 3.5 and Domino 8.5?
Is there any limitations (ex:Max number of users)?
Any special configuration to know about?

Other than that:Link

Thank you,

JYR

Subject: Some issues

We ran a benchmark on 7.02 FP2 and if the environment is configured correctly it can scale well. We did a 6,000 concurrent NRPC users and the results are published in a whitepaper which, at the request of VMware, is under NDA. If you / your customer have a current NDA with IBM or VMware you can obtain a copy from your representative.

There are some general issues reported and documented:

Title: High CPU usage by router and poor performance of Domino under VMware
Doc #: 1252786
URL: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21252786

Title: Poor performance of Domino HTTP server on VMware ESX 3.0 and 3.5
Doc #: 1331074
URL: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21331074

but they most depend on the hardware, storage, latency of storage, RAM for the VM and OS (with 64 bit OS performing much better especially with over 6 GB assigned to the VM).

I don’t believe 8.5 would be much of a difference compared to 7.0.2 FP2. If necessary you can send me the details of the configuration and I can provide some recommendations - ivd@us.ibm.com
