Upon exiting Outlook 2007 on Vista using DAMO 8.0.2 you get a Windows dailog box notifying you that “Microsot Office Outlook has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.”
Occassionaly on the next start of Outlook, it will eventually time out and display a Lotus Domino error box. Also sometimes Vista will display a “bubble” stating that an Outlook file did not close properly. This behavior does not occur on Windows XP using Outlook 2007. The only way to guarantee that you can start Outlook 2007 properly is to reboot your PC, although I’ve tried KillNotes.exe a couple times and it worked.
I wasn’t sure if this was the same as SPR #JFEA76YNVQ or not.
We’re currently working on the Vista Outlook exit problem summarized by the SPR you referenced. Your experience sounds like that problem, although we haven’t seen the restart issues you described.
It’s possible that one of the DAMO/Outlook processes did not shut down cleanly after the crash. If you hit the restart problem again, you might try killing the processes with the task manager. Bring up the task manager and make sure that outlook.exe and nwrdaemn.exe are not running before restarting Outlook. It sounds like nwrdaemn.exe might still be running.
The shutdown problem is one of our top priorities right now and we hope to have a fix in the near future. If you’re an external customer, you might want to open a PMR so that you can get hold of the fix once it’s available. If you’re an IBMer, let us know and we’ll keep you informed as to when the hot fix is available.
