Subject: From what I know this is reported and there is currently no solution - besides running Domino in a VM on XP or something.

Subject: I’m running Domino 8.0.1 on Vista Enterprise SP1

Subject: I would like to learn the outcome, in case you are willing to give it a try (Domino 8.5 Beta on Vista). Other than this

I can confirm for myself that Domino 8.5 runs on Windows XP, and that neither 8.5 nor Vista are certified platforms for the server

I am a ‘third party’ and maybe someone from IBM can report the request, that somebody will look into a unsupported way to run it. - I would second this request, was bitten by server Software not running on typical Client OS at least for demo purposes before too. Very frustrating.

Subject: Domino 8.5 on Vista Enterprise works fine for me

I finally got around to installing a (recent) build of 8.5 and it starts up fine on my Vista Enterprise client.

Subject: what did you have to do? Is this still Beta 1?

Subject: I did a regular install

The version is shown in the screenshot. It is a later build than beta 1 (I’m an IBMer).

Did you run the install with admin privileges ? Also I have UAC turned off right now.

Subject: I didn’t even try, but considdered to post the wish.

I was bitten by that before, - I think it was Portal Express that would not install on XP, and this is bad for doing demos (at least the demos did not happen in my case)

Subject: Bitten by what ? <eom?

Subject: If I remember right, Portal 6 would install on XP Prof, Portel 6 expres did not.

Very frustrating, actually I just wanted to run component designer and demo at customers. Including finding the stuff to download and finding out the hard way that it won’t work was probably 3 days of wasted time.

And of course I did not demo at those customers and therefore IBM and me may or may not have lost money (there was no big enough pressure, otherwise I would have invested another 2 or 3 days, and most likely would have succeeded.

Subject: Vista is not a supported platform for Domino

it never has been. It is a desktop OS, not a server OS.
